Vocational Studies

Roselyn House school has a full programme of vocational studies which we offer to students.

This leads to students developing skills they already have and learning new ones which they put into practice and gain recognised qualifications.

Examples of vocational placements include motor vehicle maintenance, photography, art and animation, hair and beauty, building construction, fishing, music production, horse riding and many more.  

A key part of the successful vocational programme is matching the students to the right vocation and then watching them mature in a workplace environment.

Work experience

Students can opt for extended work experience placements. We have had successful placements in garages, painting and decorating, hairdressing salons, childcare, stables and gardening. Students are dropped off or encouraged to make their own way to the placement if local.

College/ Alternative Provision

We presently have students on BTEC, Level 1 and NVQ courses at local colleges either to the school or in the area where the young person lives. Students study courses like hairdressing, childcare, catering, sports turf, construction, motor vehicle, music, sport, art and equestrian studies. Students can be accompanied by a Learning Support Assistant and encouraged when ready to remain at college on their own. Often students begin courses and remain Post 16 or after Sixth Form.
